| Abstract: |
The program recognises the importance of establishing an integrated catchment management program where the urban community has the opportunity to become involved with the management and health of the Swan and Canning Rivers. The project aims to fund and support projects under each of a four point action plan designed to: reduce nutrient inputs; improve land-use management; reduce algal blooms; and monitor river health.
Lessons learnt - Opportunities are needed to share outputs of group endeavours to the broader community affected by the issues being addressed. - Key measurable indicators can provide a way of tracking and focusing the efforts of multiple projects aimed at the same issues or opportunity; - Complex problems involving many different stakeholders require a multi-pronged approach to achieving outcomes. - Common forums can assist in communication between related projects. |
